A fake movie poster has been circulating on Facebook this year. It shows Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren and Tom Selleck under a title called The Silent Murder, dated 2026. People are asking where to stream it. There is no such film. No studio made it, and nobody wrote a script for it.
It is not the only fake going around. A separate post claims the two actresses are starring in a new season of The Marlow Murder Club, a real mystery series on PBS’s Masterpiece that has never cast either of them. The interest behind both fakes is real. The movies are not. A Reddit thread exists purely to ask if people confuse Streep and Mirren for one another.
Here is the actual answer. Streep and Mirren have never worked on the same film, television show, or stage production. They have built decades of major careers running side by side, without ever actually crossing.

What Actually Connects Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren
The clearest link between the two goes back to 2007. Mirren won the Academy Award for Best Actress that year for playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. Streep was nominated in the same category, for the original Devil Wears Prada, at the same ceremony, and lost to her.
Mirren has also said that Streep once told her she borrowed my hair while working out the look for Miranda Priestly, the magazine editor-in-chief at the center of The Devil Wears Prada. She has repeated the story in interviews more than once, and it is the closest thing to a working relationship either woman has described in public.
They have also stood near each other in person. At the 2020 Golden Globes, Streep was photographed helping fix a piece of Mirren’s dress that had come loose, a moment that got passed around online for days. Outside of that, nothing else is on the record.
Helen Mirren’s 2026, In Order
Mirren received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes’ new “Golden Eve” special in January, presented by Harrison Ford, a friend of hers since the two of them filmed The Mosquito Coast together in 1986. She has already completed the Triple Crown of Acting, competitive wins at the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys, a distinction only a handful of performers hold.
In June, King Charles III named her a Companion of Honour, a title held by only 65 living people at a time, awarded for her services to drama. The Press Association reported that Mirren posted a video reaction on Instagram describing herself as the daughter of an immigrant. Her father found shelter in Britain after fleeing the Russian Revolution. Her mother grew up working class in East London.
“I think of myself as utterly British to the core.”
She said she wished her parents were alive to see the honor, and she traced her love of acting back to falling for Shakespeare as a child.
She turned 81 on July 26. Around the same time, she told Hello! magazine that it is “sometimes hard for me to get up in the morning.” MobLand, Guy Ritchie’s Paramount+ crime drama where she plays opposite Pierce Brosnan as her on-screen husband, returns for its second season on September 18.
Meryl Streep’s Own Big Year
Streep lent her voice to Pixar’s Hoppers in March, one of two animated films to feature a small cameo from her this year, alongside Project Hail Mary.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 opened in May, bringing Miranda Priestly back to theaters nearly twenty years after the original film. The sequel has already made more at the worldwide box office than the original made across its entire theatrical run.
She turned 77 in June. In September, she returns as Loretta Durkin when Only Murders in the Building premieres its fifth season on Hulu.
The Silent Murder poster is still circulating on Facebook, and it still is not real. Streep and Mirren are both back on screens this September, just on different ones. Each built her own 2026 without any input from the other.
