Who is Gabriella Wesberry?
Wesberry was working as an art dealer in London by the early 1990s, around the time she met Hucknall. The Irish Examiner referred to her as a company director in 2007, without naming the company.
No outlet has ever identified her clients, the galleries she worked with, or where she was educated. She has no public social media accounts under her own name. Several sites also describe her as a director of her husband’s wine label, Il Cantante, though no wine trade report or interview has ever confirmed it.
Photographs place her with Hucknall at a Goldene Kamera awards ceremony in Berlin in January 2010, a gallery opening in London tied to a Bill Wyman photography exhibition in 2013, and Wyman’s own birthday party in London in 2017.
Meeting in 1992, splitting in 1995, and marrying in 2010
Hucknall has said the two of them were first together in 1992, shortly before he left on a world tour with Simply Red. Speaking to the Daily Mirror in 2012, he explained that he knew even then he was making a mistake, and that going through with the tour left him miserable rather than settled. “I was very, very lucky to win her back,” he said.
The couple split in 1995 and, according to a wire service report published the week their daughter was born, did not reunite until 2003. They married seven years later, in 2010, at Forter Castle, a 16th-century property in Glenisla, Perthshire, in a ceremony no outlet with a named byline has ever fully described. Wesberry has never discussed any part of this history in public.
What Hucknall has said about their marriage
Hucknall, who turned 66 this June, has given interviews about the marriage for most of the last two decades. He has talked about his mother leaving when he was three, the years he spent touring and dating other women, and his own surprise that Wesberry stayed with him.
In 2010, Hucknall said he had slept with roughly three women a day between 1985 and 1987. He gave a softer account of the same period in later interviews, most recently to the Sunday Times Magazine in 2025, where he described himself as “a kid in a sweet shop” and added: “My poor wife. How she’s stuck with me, I don’t know.”
Even his relationships before Wesberry are better documented than his marriage to her. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Helena Christensen and Martine McCutcheon have all been named in coverage of his life through the 1980s and 1990s, each already a public figure in her own right. Wesberry has not responded to any interview Hucknall has given about their marriage, including the one from 2025.
